Queer Asylum-seeker: Food And Housing

Brief: This is a humble appeal to queer folk around the world, to our allies in every corner: can you please help us feed and house one of our own to enable him to sur vive a lonely, cross-border battle with transphobia? I'm Mohazzab, an undergraduate at Williams and an international student from Pakistan. Last summers I was carrying out an activist ethnography with LGBTQ+ organizations in Karachi, Pakistan funded by a college fellowship, and I ended up befriending a trans man going by the name of Honey. As I came to know him and assist where I could, discovered that he is on the run from a conservative, powerful political family that has threatened him with honour killing - a sad and persistent social ill in Pakistan. Before going into hiding, Honey was beaten to within an inch of his life by his brother and threatened with murder if he did not marry a man of their choice. Honey has since transitioned (although I'm still worried about him being recognized, hence the obscured photo!), and I have helped him fly to Nepal where he has registered with the UNHCR and been selected for sponsorship by Canadian Rainbow Railroad for seeking asylum in Canada. I have been funding his stay with personal savings for the few months he has been there but I have exchausted my resources. Honey cannot work legally on his immigration status to help support himself either. We therefore make a humble appeal to queer folk around the world, to our allies in every corner: can you please help us feed and house one of our own as he concludes his lonely battle with some of the most terrifying, crushing transphobia to be found globally? We  need support only for the 12 further months he will have to wait until his asylum application is processed, but Honey hopes to be a pillar of support for vulnerable queer folk for the rest of his life if he is able to secure his own future.
