Hello, I'm Ra Ra, and I'm studying full-time in a two-year MA, Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness, at NYU Steinhardt.
Nationally, Black males are 2.9 times more likely to be identified as mentally challenged as their white peers. (Moore, Henfield, & Owens, 2008) I myself have experienced traumas and hardships linked to my race and sexuality, far too advanced for me to process on my own.
As I move through this academic experience, I ask for your assistance with the costs associated with school. Below is a breakdown of what I'm trying to cover. My plan is to leave this fundraiser up for the duration of my education and pay on the amounts owed monthly.
Any amount, no matter how small, is a huge help as it all adds up. Additionally, getting the word out if you have the platform and are willing to is incredibly valuable.
100% of the amount raised here will go toward:
•NYU Tuition and college fees: $85,000 per year x 2 = $170,000 - $25,000 (Steinhardt Graduate Scholarships) - $2000 (Steinhardt Endowment Scholarship) = $143,000
•Current student debt #1 with Navient (This is my Bachelor's degree in Psychology I'm still paying on): $31,165
•Current student debt #2 with Fed Loan Servicing (This is my Bachelor's degree in Psychology I'm still paying on): $33,186
Total student debt = $207,351
