Push For Change - World Record

Donation protected
Back in 2022 I announced I was setting myself up to break a world record in aid of good Causes. I felt confident, strong and ready to take on the challenge and everything was going to plan. Shortly after this announcement my life was hit with several major setbacks which led to a very dark spiral of my own. My Mental Health had hit an all time record low. I felt completely lost and alone during this time. Suicide became an everyday thought, panic attacks became routine and the future didn’t seem like something that I’d be around to see. This was a very sad point in my life. The fundraiser was cancelled and money was refunded and I thought that would be the last I would think of this event.

Since then I’ve been trying really hard on my road to recovery. Medication, therapy, and surrounding myself with my friends and loved ones has brought me back to a place where I feel safe and ready to live life again. Since the original fundraiser I’ve not spent too much time thinking about doing anything, occasionally people would ask me what happened and l would brush past the topic in embarrassment of what I had promised. A very salt in the wound kind of feeling.

If theres anything I’ve learnt during my time on the shelf it’s that support is needed more than ever. Not only within mental health or skateboarding but within everywhere. With the help of my Doctors, local mental health team and my friends and loved ones I finally feel at a place where I can push myself to give back to the community and hopefully support those who need it.

So in September this year I will be attempting to break the world record for the fastest skate from John O’Groats to Lands end. I will aim to complete this in 15 days or under and in the process hopefully spread the word on the great work the chosen charities are doing.

This is something I thought I would never consider doing again. My biggest motivator this time round is seeing how people came to help me when I needed it. I’m hoping somewhere in this journey people will be able to get that same help and lifeline that I was once given.

Any support towards this journey is greatly appreciated and the individual links for each charity will be down below to check out the incredible work they are each doing. 100% of money raised will be split equally and donated to the the charities below. Regular updates will be posted here and on instagram (@darkerzx).

Thank you!
