We have all been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an incredibly trying time for the entire country, and none of us were fully prepared for it. Buffalo thrives on the small business. Many of us own a small business ourselves, know someone who does, or is employed by a small business. Many small businesses had to close down all together, or at least severely limit our business without much notice. This is not anyone's fault, it is for public health and safety, but it is crushing nonetheless.
Purrfect Cafe and Gallery closed is doors to the public March 17th, when other restaurants were ordered to go to take-out only. Shortly after that, for the safety of our staff and well being of the cats, the adoptable cats were brought back to the shelter and the purrmanent residents were brought home. This broke our hearts, but was necessary for public health. We cannot ensure a safe distance between guests in the cat lounge, we do not want to take the risk of exposing our small and loyal staff, and we want to encourage people to stay home as much as possible. The shelter is deemed an essential business, and are doing adoptions by appointment. The Cafe cats now have the chance to find furrever homes in a space equipped to handle this situation. We cannot thank Ten Lives Club volunteers and employees enough for their hard work.
During our time closed, the owner is deep cleaning and updating the Cafe and Cat Lounge, anxious and excited to re-open. In the meantime, though, we are accruing bills and expenses without any income. We have started selling gift certificates online that can be used for future visits, and are working on launching our online store.
While this helps, we are still struggling with things like rent, utilities, and insurance. We will also need to restock before opening, as much of our Cafe inventory had to be thrown away or donated as it will not last through the shut down.
We know you are all stretched thin right now. We know there are many uncertainties of what the future may bring.
But Purrfect has high hopes for our future and wants to remain a part of Buffalo's small business force. We love our part in the community, our supporters, and most of all, helping the cats of Western New York and beyond. We want to grow, find more homes for kitties in need, and continue to support other local businesses and artists in their goals and dreams.
If you have the means, please consider donating to help keep Purrfect a part of Buffalo. Help us adopt more cats, sell more local artwork, support other local businesses with our events, and stay around for years to come! If you cannot donate money, but have cat supplies you would like to donate, please contact Ten Lives Club! They are always in need of food, litter, and more. Find out more on their website, https://www.tenlivesclub.com/, or call [phone redacted].
Thank you so much. Everyone stay safe, and stay hopeful. We will see you when this is all over!
