My name is Charles Blem, I am a member of the Fatima Boy Scout Troop 446. I have been in the Boy Scouts for over 10 years and I am building Purple Martin Bird boxes for my Eagle Scout project. The Conservation Society at Episcopal School of Acadiana in conjunction with the Audubon Society of Baton Rouge, LA desired development of Purple Martin habitats at their Cade and Lafayette campuses to help support the Purple Martin population as well as provide a teaching tool for conservation. The population of Purple Martins is declining due to starlings and sparrows taking their homes so they can only nest in man-made houses.
Materials needed for my project are wood, poles, screws, paint, hardware, and a pulley system to raise and lower the boxes.
I hope to build 24 boxes.
Thank you for your support.
