Evan Thornton is our nephew who has cancer. He has tumors on his lungs and on his heart. He was 11 years old when he was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma and has been fighting cancer since the summer of 2012.
Evan and his family have amazing, giving people in their lives that have been supporting them all along the way. Our hope is that people continue to support, no matter how big or small. It makes a huge difference to Evan and his family. With your support, Evan's parents can take all of their energy and put it where it needs to go "“ into Evan and his brother, Leo (14) and sister, Rae (10).
It has been a long journey for Evan and his family (read his full story at, http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/evanthornton). Evan has been punching all along the way; punching through the chemo, punching through radiation, punching through surgery, through all the drug trials and travels, leaving family and friends for long periods of time for treatment. Evan does not complain, even in the darkest times when he could not get out of bed. He has punched on!
Recently, Evan's parents made a big decision. The decision was to take him off all the drugs. His little body just could not take anymore. With that being said, NO ONE HAS GIVEN UP ON THIS FIGHT! Not Evan, not his family, not his friends!
After much research by his parents along with support from his doctors, Evan has been trying something new. He has been on a special diet; he is being treated through alternative therapies and is on food based nutritional supplementation. None of this is covered through his health insurance. For example, one of the therapies that Evan does daily costs $75 each visit.
By donating to Evan's care you are helping pay for his medical treatments, alternative therapy and food based nutritional needs. But in the larger scheme of things you are giving a family less worry and more joy, and a little boy the help he needs to keep punching.
(We love you so much Evan, Michael, Trina, Leo & Rae Rae!
