The manifesto proposes the radical potential of psychoanalysis (an tsíocanailís) as a ‘valuable tool’ to respond to the brutal capitalist system that is hetro-patriarchial in nature and reproduces sexism, racism, toxic masculinity to propel oppression throughout the world. Parker and Pavón-Cuéllar see another world is possible and highlight very clearly the liberating aspects of psychoanalysis.
To understand the world through Gaeilge again we can offer an alternative way of not only seeing the world but our relationship with each other and our environment. As Parker and Pavón-Cuéllar remind us ‘we are part of the ecologically interconnected nature of this world and connected to each other, responsible for each other’ (p. 92). This, as they claim, is at the heart of psychoanalysis.
