As you may know, Reality Los Angeles (http://realityla.com), a wonderful church in Southern California, has been my spiritual home since 2013. I am thrilled to share with you that I have recently been afforded the exciting opportunity to join my church’s short-term mission to Port-au-Prince, Haiti through the organization Child Hope International (http://childhope.org).
CHI is a Christian organization that primarily works with homeless, orphaned and at-risk Haitian children. Though CHI’s many services include educational programs, a medical center, disaster relief and a feeding program, our team will be primarily support their Maison de Lumiere (The Lighthouse) program. This program provides homes for children who need a safe and loving environment where they can receive medical attention, an education, and food and clothing.
Our church has actively supported CHI for several years, sending teams from our staff and congregation to Haiti biannually, in hopes of providing refreshment and support for their staff. In light of my team’s strong professional skills in media production, we have been allowed the unique opportunity to film a short documentary about their work. This documentary will be used to further the mission of the organization as well as update supporters of the wonderful progress made possible by their involvement.
Though going to Haiti on mission will be an incredible learning experience, it will also be a trying one. Haiti has suffered longstanding economic and social turmoil following the tragic earthquake it of 2010. Moreover, due to the drastic levels of material poverty and limited resources, the Haitian government has greatly underserviced the region our team will visit. Despite these circumstances, the country of Haiti has made incredible progress, and I personally cannot wait to see the wonderful work that is being done there!
Should you feel interested, I would also like to ask you to consider joining us on this mission by supporting me financially. In order to participate, I will need to raise $1,500 to cover the costs of airfare, vaccinations, accommodations, food supplies, and other trip related expenses.
If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to ask!
Facebook message, or Gofundme message, preferred.
Thank you all!
