Princess Braelyn

My oldest daughter, Amanda and her beautiful daughter, Braelyn have fallen victim to horrible circumstance. My wife and I have helped Amanda and Braelyn for the last sixteen months but unfortunately, our ability to help has faded because my military retirement can only stretch so far. Because of this, we reluctantly ask for your help in this matter.

Sixteen months ago, our Granddaughter, Braelyn was born with Gastroschisis. Gastroschisis represents a congenital defect characterised by a defect in the anterior abdominal wall through which the abdominal contents freely protrude. After major surgery and many months of hospitalization, Braelyn recovered and was able to leave the hospital. After bringing much joy to our life while at home, we were certain that Braelyn would go on to lead a productive life. Unfortunately, Braelyn suffered major complications and took a turn for the worse. Due to major liver failure, Braelyn was moved from Peoria Illinois Children’s Hospital to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Hospital in downtown Chicago. Braelyn needs a Liver transplant which can only happen if tests come back negative for a suspected Mitochondrial Disease. Along with her failed liver, Braelyn has sustained lung and kidney damage which further complicate the issue. If Braelyn receives a transplant, she will be hospitalized for another year going forward in order to complete an extensive rehabilitation program. If Braelyn is diagnosed with a Mitochondrial Disease, she will enter a multidiciplinary palliative care program since such disease is terminal.

Amanda was forced to quit her job and postpone pursuit of her nursing degree in order to be with Braelyn. In doing so, Amanda has suffered great financial distress. Currently, she is in behind on rent, utilities, insurance, and other bills with no relief in sight. For the last sixteen months, Amanda has relied on the support of close family members but due to the long duration of Braelyn’s illness, monetary support has faded. Because of this, immediate assistance is needed and any funds received in this endeavor will be used solely for the support of Amanda and Braelyn.
Although we faithfully trust in God’s strength and healing touch, we reluctantly ask for a kind donation that will help ease this difficult circumstance for Amanda and Braelyn. If you can, please assist these two on their uncertain journey. If you can’t, please keep them in your thoughts, provide them with prayers, and add them to as many prayer chains as possible. Amanda is one of the strongest women I know and Braelyn is a phenomenal princess who will surely make a difference in this world once she gets better. Whether it is money or prayers, thank you in advance for your kindness. GOD BLESS!
