Tragically, Pretty, Jr. and Dhane lost their mother, Curlentis, on 15 March, 2017, in a roll-over accident between Pie Town, NM and Quemado, NM. For reasons unknown, their vehicle left the road shortly after dropping off Adrian (father and husband) at his work place in Pie Town, where he is employed as a construction worker.
Sadly, Curlentis was ejected from the vehicle and severely injured. She died while being transported to the nearest MEDEVAC site.
Thankfully, 10 month old Jr. was properly and adequately restrained in his infant car seat. Passers-by were able to assist and release Jr. from his inverted position in the overturned vehicle, and moved him to safety. Jr. was not injured.
Pretty, age 5, unfortunately, was also ejected and thrown some 50 feet and was severely injured as a result of the violent crash. She was flown to UNM Medical Center where she underwent an 8 hour surgical procedure for a condition known as Internal Decapitation. In simple terms, Pretty's head was being held in place by nothing more than skin and muscle. It is miraculous that she lived; furthermore, she did not sustain serious spinal cord injury.
Fortunately, Dhane age 10, was not involved in the accident. But now has no mother.
