Prayers For Skyla Currie
Skyla is a beautiful 30-year-old woman, loving mother of 3, a sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, niece, aunt, and fiancé. She is such a giver and has never known her true beauty. She loves all animals and children. When I say this, I mean it! She is a young lady that has never complained of having too much on her plate and has always been willing to put herself last for anyone else in need. She is the best daughter, sister, and mama that I know! She takes this spot in life with pride. Her children are her gifts.
On August 21, 2021, Skyla was admitted to Duke Regional Hospital, in Durham, NC. She had a very high fever, chills, and shortness of breath. At this time her resting heart rate was 130. The next day, she was diagnosed with double pneumonia (A lung infection that affects both of your lungs. The infection inflames the air sacs in your lungs, or the alveoli, which fill with fluid or pus.). Not too soon after, her oxygen levels dropped down to 90%, to 70%, and to 60%! Just last night, she had a heart attack. Today is day 5 and the doctors have put her on a heart catheter. There is a lot of fluid building around her heart and lungs. She also has sepsis (A potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when the body's response to an infection damages its own tissues) and ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome occurs when fluid builds up in the tiny, elastic air sacs in your lungs. The fluid keeps your lungs from filling with enough air, which means less oxygen reaches your bloodstream. This deprives your organs of the oxygen they need to function.).
Several hours have passed by now and the doctors have asked that Skyla’s children and siblings come in to see her. Skyla also has family coming in from out of town, to be by her children’s sides, her siblings, and parents during this time. It is now 4:30pm on August 26, 2021, and her doctors have now placed her on life support and decided to life flight her to a much larger hospital, with the hopes of getting her back to 100%!
Skyla is a very humble young lady and has never asked for anything from anyone, but in this case, her family is taking lead. We are asking for donations. The money will go towards Skyla’s bills, the transportation/stay efforts for her children and family to be with her, and for anything Skyla’s babies Ivory, Justin, and Aiden might need or want at this time. We just want them to be comfortable. We also want to give Skyla comfort in knowing that her family and friends are doing all they can to help her during this time.
