Help Kerry Stay at Home

Hi there,

We’re raising funds for our Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother Kerry Keelan so that she can stay in her home where she’s happy, safe and has all of her most fond memories of her late husband. 

Kerry and her family have found themselves in a dire need of assistance !!! They do not know where else to turn for help.  

Kerry suffered from spinal degeneration and is restricted to a wheel chair and can not get into and out of bed on her own. This means she needs the assistance of 2 care services workers to do this and also to help with other day to day living tasks. 

Kerry was barely scraping by on her maximum level 4 package with a minimum  14-15 hrs of supported care per week. One is her daughter doing the care support without a second person one week on week off, another daughter cooking meals and her granddaughter does shopping.

Kerry’s  level 4 aged care package just does not go near covering her basic needs as it is.
In July 2022 the new SCHADS award came into effect. All care workers now have to be paid a minimum of 2 hrs per shift. As Kerry needs 2 people to use the mechanical hoist if her service providers are unable to string different clients she will be charged 4 hours in the morning and another 4 in the evening to put her to bed 8 hours total a day. This will leave a shortfall of 41-42 hours per week.

Kerry’s current provider will not be able to provide services after the end of this week! Her family are stretched to their limits now as it is and come next week 11/7/2022 when the services halt Kerrie’s family don’t know what they will do.
