Please help CDM healthcare staff and teachers

Please join us to help CDM staff, Myanmar

We are a group of Kachin people living in the UK, raising funds for healthcare workers and teachers participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) in Kachin State and Northern Shan State, Myanmar. We have helped more than 200 CDM staff. We are now aiming to help over 1,000 staff, as more joined CDM and some have used up their savings.

A short background; on February 01, 2021, the military seized power in Myanmar despite the democratic party won by a landslide election result. Although the people have been protesting peacefully, the military regime is terrorising the people, shooting, murdering, beating, kidnapping, imprisoning, breaking into people’s houses, looting, and damaging private properties. Until now, there were more than 800 people have been killed and nearly 4000 people have been arrested, charged or sentenced.

To denounce the military coup, the majority of teachers, doctors and nurses have boycotted their jobs under the military and participated in CDM (this movement is now being nominated for the Nobel Peace prize).

CDM plays a vital role to stop the coup and give change to build peaceful and inclusive federal democratise future for people of Myanmar. NUG (National Unity Government) highly regards CDM staff and urge to continue this movement until the military dictator is eliminated.

You may already be aware that participating in CDM is not easy. Some have been arrested, killed and their family members’ lives are not safe either.

They have lost their income since February 2021. When we sent some help (cash, basic medicine) last time, the receivers were very grateful and encouraged, not just for the cash or basic packages they received, knowing we have their backs and we are in this together with them in thoughts and in action. They really appreciate our gestures and help no matter how small. We aim to raise funds by the end of this month.

So let’s help them build a peaceful democratic nation. Thank you.
