Hi,
My name is Michele and I am fundraising for Benny's unexpected veterinary bills. This is an embarrassing situation to be in and one I did not want to do. This year has been very hard for both of us with so many things going wrong; and none of it being our fault. And so here we are.
Benny is my assistance dog. I trained him to help me when I need him; which is when we are out. He knows all the directions, north, east, south, west, left, right, etc. He knows all the street names. He knows how to get me home if I become shaky and / or disoriented and he walks me home slowly. He is the smartest most amazing dog...and he's funny too!
He's always there for me when I need him, but now I just feel so helpless that I am not able to be there for him right now. He's in a lot of pain.
It brings tears to my eyes when I see him in so much discomfort. The arthritis in his left elbow is so bad that his whole left side shakes and he's having trouble walking because of it.
The reason for the fundraising:
- He had been having small reactions to his pain medication and recently it was a full blown one that I had to give him Benadryl for. That was very scary.
- So now he doesn't have anything for the pain.
- He also has a lump on his chest the diameter of a grapefruit which has grown over the summer.
- He has always had his annual checkups and shots and flea and ticks medication and in the spring the vet thought the lump might be a fat lump, but wasn't entirely sure and asked me to keep an eye on it.
- We are now at the point that that has to be addressed. He did get an injection of Librela for his arthritis in the spring and it did help.
- I was in touch with the vet's office numerous times to come up with an action plan. Now while this first estimate is only the first step, there will be more to come including xrays and / or surgery or some form of treatment for the lump.
n.b. I put an image up of the estimate but you couldn't see the whole thing so I've done it here.

N.B. Not included is the cost for multiple vet tech visits to administer the Librela. For some reason more than one couldn't be added to the estimate. Until I can find someone around here who gives it to their own dog and knows how to do it, I will have to go this route. Also, at the same time they can monitor him and see how he is doing.
As things get paid I will do updates.
During the visit they will do bloodwork and take fluid from his lump. The other part of the estimate that is missing right now is for the anesthetic if they choose to go that route.
I have no idea how much xrays and the form of treatment or surgery will cost which is why the goal is $7,500.
The sooner we get the word out, the quicker Benny can get back to recovery and his walks. He loves his walks. Up until this summer we would do between 2 and 4 kms a day.
We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are very grateful for any and all donations.
