Playmakers Inc. - Flood Recovery

We are Playmakers Theatre of Covington La. We have been bringing live theatre to St. Tammany Parish for well over 60 years. In fact we are the thirteenth oldest continuously operating community theatre in the country. On Friday, March the 11th we were caught in Mother Nature's grasp as Playmakers, like so many in Louisiana and Mississippi suffered from severe flooding, the kind not seen in generations here. Our beloved little theatre "The Barn" as we affectionately call it was inundated with over five feet of water. As the pictures suggest the rennovation needed will be massive as we'll need tear out, replace, and repaint everything the water touched (Walls, Stage, Seating, airconditioning/heating units and more). In addition we'll have to undergo mold remediation as well. Ironically we were already in the midst of planned rennovations just before the flood hit. In February we'd completely re-done the flooring in the Theatre house and Lobby bathrooms and completely repainted the house as well. That alone was a $10,000 job. We're determined to get back up and running. Hurricane Katrina didn't make us go dark and neither will this flood. Arts are such a valuable part of our community. Playmakers Theatre has touched and been touched by so many people over time. It is our mission to continue to offer the experience of live theatre for audiences and participants alike but we need your help to make it happen. Any donation, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated as it will be a part of gift that keeps on giving to the community at large.
