On Monday morning 2/9/2026, Our Grandson was standing at his school bus stop when he was suddenly hit by a car. In a matter of seconds, our entire world changed.
He suffered serious injuries to his leg, including multiple broken bones, and had to undergo emergency surgery to place rods to stabilize the fractures. Additionally , suffering from severe complications thereafter. Seeing your child in that kind of pain is something no parent is ever prepared for. The nights have been especially hard, with pain that comes and goes, and he now faces months of recovery, follow-up appointments, and physical therapy before he can return to being a normal kid again.
What makes this even more overwhelming for them is that the driver who hit him did not have insurance. Because of this, they have been left responsible for medical bills that are already over $50,000 and continuing to grow. Between hospital care, surgery, medications, and upcoming physical therapy, the financial burden has become more than we can manage on our own.
Missed work days to stay home and care for him, help him move around, and get him to appointments. Like most families, we were not prepared for something like this to happen so suddenly. Right now our focus is on helping him heal, stay comfortable, and feel safe but the financial stress is heavy.
Phoenix is a strong, kind kid who loves being active and spending time with family. He should be worrying about school and playing with friends, not surgeries and recovery timelines. We just want to give him the best chance to heal without the constant fear of how we’re going to cover these bills.
We are asking for help to cover: Medical and hospital bills. Ongoing treatment and physical therapy. Missed work while caring for him. Transportation to appointments and daily expenses.
If you’re able to donate, share, or keep the family in your thoughts, it truly means everything to all of us. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting our son during one of the hardest moments our family has ever faced. We will continue to post updates on his recovery as he heals.
With gratitude,
The Cain / Wellspeak Family
