Why this matters
The Gandharva are Nepal’s traveling storytellers and musicians—keepers of oral history whose songs once carried news between villages and kings. Their culture is at risk as youth leave for work and development pressures rise on ancestral lands next to the Unity Fort in Ligligkot, Gorkha.
Our response: build the Ligligkot Heritage Farmhouse—a self-sustaining cultural, ecological, and social enterprise that preserves music and stories while creating dignified livelihoods through eco-tourism, organic farming, retreats, and youth programs.
What’s already in motion
- 20+ fruit varieties planted (apples, walnuts, almonds, pears, oranges, peaches).
- Municipal approvals engaged.
- $20,000 personal investment already made by founder Kedar Gandhari (music therapist, social entrepreneur).
- Youth leaders Poonjan & Pooja organizing peers through the Ligligkot Youth Club.
The immediate need (Milestone 1)
Secure the family land so it cannot be sold for outside development.
Target: $10,000.
Planned use of Milestone 1 funds (estimated):
- Land security payment / advance: ~$7,000
- Local legal + registration to set up the Nepal charity: ~$1,200
- Survey/site documentation & compliance: ~$800
- Platform fees & contingency: ~$1,000

Once this milestone is achieved, we continue toward the build. Total project budget: $255,000 (with $20,000 already invested). The next tranches will fund site works, guest rooms, training spaces, and cultural programming.
Who’s behind this
This campaign is presented with PEAC Institute (Peace, Education, Art & Culture) and the Pause for Peace series launch, which amplifies youth-led solutions. PEAC provides fiscal stewardship and transparent reporting while funds are routed to the Ligligkot Heritage Farmhouse project team in Nepal.
