Make a difference and honor Pete!

Our dear friend Peter Smith died tragically in a fire on 11/22/17. He was a kind, loyal and fun loving son, brother, boyfriend and friend with a larger than life personality and a smile that lit up a room! As a way to honor him we are raising funds in his name so that some good can come from this senseless tragedy. Our stated goal on GoFundMe is modest. However, if we can raise enough money, we would ideally like to fund a scholarship or annual donation in his name. As Pete loved hockey, our thought is to donate to a hockey program. One program, Score, gives inner city kids, an opportunity to play hockey.
Ultimately, we just want do some good in Pete's name.

Friends, at the request of GoFundMe, we have been asked to clarify who we “Friends of Pete” are and what our relationship to Pete is, as well as our intentions with the funds. We are Sarah L. Dan L. Tom C. and Lisa S. The four of us are friends of Pete who together with his family and Fran just wanted to see something good come of his death. The four of us just started the ball rolling but there are so many more of you that are making it all happen with us. Our intentions with the funds are not 100% formulated. We plan on a general donation to SCORE Boston Hockey as well as providing summer hockey camp scholarships for the kids of SCORE. We are also looking to see if we can find a company to donate hockey equipment in Pete’s name. If we can get a donation of equipment in Pete’s name, SCORE will put a patch on the equipment with Pete’s name or initials. We would like to keep Pete’s memory alive for many years. We welcome all of you to join us. As you know, Pete was always inclusive! The more the merrier. We plan on making the gathering at Clarkes an annual event but also hope to add additional events to keep Pete in our thoughts. If anyone has any question or needs further clarification, please let us know. We will be sending out an update to all as soon as we figure things out and make some progress.
