Help The Hamiltons

Recently I was reflecting on the people in my life that who without I wouldn’t be the person I am today. One of those people that have been consistently there for me from about Jr high through this very minute is Perry Hamilton.

Perry has seen me at my worst and at my best. He married my wife and I. He was there after the birth of both of my girls. He also helped me bury my wife in 2014. People like Perry are hard to come by this day and age. Everyone is out for themselves and what is it for them.

Perry has dedicated his life to students within the age that nobody wants to be associated with them (Middle School) all the way thru college kids. He has answered the Lords call to spread the Gospel to the youth and equip them with the tools to lead a Christ Centered life all while being a goofy guy that loves to play games and practical jokes but knowing when he needed to be serious and ask you the question “How Are You?” Which meant, How is you walk?

As most of you know, recently, Perry, at  57 suffered a stroke. When I found out via Facebook the first thing I did was call him and go off on him for not calling or texting me. Then I jumped in my car and went and saw him at the hospital. When I got there he told me he can’t really use the left side of his body.

For those of you that know Perry, his ADD/OCD Never Slow Down style is just him! But when I got to the hospital I noticed that was not the person I was visiting. I knew his road to recovery was going to be hard, frustrating, annoying and all around tough for him.

Since then, it has been just that. Perry has been in and out of the hospital, possibly had another mini stroke, has been to in-patient rehab for a few weeks and had to inexpensively retrofit the house they rent for his current needs. To top it off his wife Judy was recently let go from her job where she served for over 35 years.

On a recent trip to visit with Perry I brought up the idea of a GOFUNDME and he said NO. I said I felt the same way when my wife was sick and passed. But that was my pride and I let it go and I was Blessed beyond measure with peoples gifts that allowed me to take care of LIFE. A few days ok, he gave me the ok to do this for him.

Perry and Judy are some of the nicest people I have ever met that have dedicated their life to students and continue to do so. They do not live a lavish lifestyle; it’s simple to say the least. They are very modest people that serve others before themselves.

With Perry home needing more care than he cares to admit (he still has no use of the left side of his body) and Judy being unemployed. There are things that are going to come up that are not “Normal Life” things that would be happening if Perry had not suffered his stroke. Things like, more retrofit to the house, voice activated electronics, therapy for Perry that will not be covered by insurance etc. With that there are going to be some things that are going to need to become “New Normal Life” things life just getting Perry and Judy out for a lunch during the day to get out of the house or away for a couple days to re focus on life. The one thing I know that both Perry and Judy like is DISNEYLAND. Hopefully your financial blessing can help them get passes just so Judy can roll Perry around Disneyland, have lunch and put a smile on the recently sometimes Grumpy Mr Hamilton.

I don’t care if you have $5 to spare or $10,000 dollars. If you find it in your heart to Help The Hamiltons please do. If you are in So Cal and want to donate something but do not want to use this platform, you can contact me and I will personally come pick it up and make sure it gets to Perry & Judy.
