Help with the passing of their Grandchild

We are reaching out to you on behalf of our dear friends Chris and Beth Collins

As some of you know On May 25th 2024 Chris and Beth Collins oldest Daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Penelope was born at 23 weeks weighing 550 grams, Penelope is now 39 weeks corrected age. She has Respiratory failure secondary to severe lung disease of prematurity (lung failure)

Pulmonary Hypertension (high blood pressure in her lungs) Anasarca (severe edema, or swelling)

Intracranial bleeding (bleeding in her ventricles and surrounding brain tissue on the right side) with cystic changes of the brain (permanent brain injury)

Since Penelope’s birth Beth has been by her sided. It started with going in to the hospital each morning before work to read to her, and then each night after work Beth and Chris would go and sit with her and read to her so she knew she had people in her life that love her and are fighting for her. 12 weeks ago Penelope condition worsened and Beth had to take a leave from work to be with Penelope, for the last 12 weeks Beth has spend endless days at the hospital holding Penelope’s hand well she fights, with Beth being off work they have lost her income which they need to support their family as they have 3 kids at home, Beth had applied for a caregiver leave but still has not been approved. For 12 weeks now she hasn’t had a pay. Gas and Parking going back and forth from Milton to Mc Master Children’s Hospital is not cheap, so I wanted to reach out and try and get them some help with covering bills, parking and Gas. With Penelope’s condition not improving the hospital feels that they need to redirect care. So they would need help to pay for a funeral if they get to that point, so as their friend I’m reaching out in hope to get them some help to cover some of these expenses as I know it’s been very hard on this family. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in helping this selfless family during this Journey.
