Felipe, The Boy Who Can!
I was given the highest honor on this earth of being a mom for the third time on May 12, 2011. Felipe was born at 30 weeks and with complications. Our bond was stong form the begining of my pregnancy; however, doctor's feared he would not survive as he was losing oxygen. After 2 months of being in the NICU, Felipe came home. At 8 months old, Felipe was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.
Felipe is 5 years old now and he is a bright, vibrant, smart and happy child - my child! After years of dedication and several therapy programs I have seen some progress in his movements and limbs; however, not enough to allow him to walk. Being a mom of 2 other boys - I know the joy one experiences when your child begins to crawl, the first time your child sits on their own, their first word, and the first step they take on their own.... I continue to wait for Felipe to give his first step on his own and this is what has humbled me into asking for your help.
I recenlty heard about an intense therapy program that can help bring that extra joy and experience of Felipe taking his first step. PediaSuit is an intense therapy program offering 4 hour sessions 5 days a week. The Method combines the best elements of proven various techniques and methods, and has a sound rationale based on the physiology of exercises.
Benefits of PediaSuit Protocol Therapy
Re-trains the central nervous system
Restores ontogenetic development
Provides external stabilization
Normalizes muscle tone
Aligns the body to as close to normal as possible
Provides dynamic correction
Normalizes (corrects) gait pattern
Provides tactile stimulation
Influences vestibular system
Improves balance
Improves coordination
Decreases uncontrolled movement in ataxia and athetosis
Improves body and spatial awareness
Supports weak muscles
Provides resistance to strong muscles to further enhance strength
Improves speech production and its fluency through head and trunk support
Promotes development of both fine and gross motor skills
Improves bone density
Helps to decrease contractures
Improves hip alignment
Getting Felipe into this program will be one of the biggest accomplishments of my life. It is unfortunate that this program is private and unfortunately it is also costly. As a parent you want nothing but the best for your child(ren) - well, I believe this is the best for my son. I am humbly asking for your contribution small or large - all help is welcome. I am forever grateful for the opprunity you have given Felipe and I to come into your life with his story and I will be eternally grateful for helping us reah our goal!!
