Help Derez Ysaquirre’s Family Find Peace After an Unthinkable Tragedy On February 4th, 35-year-old Derez Ysaguirre lost his life while checking on his loved one. As his mother mourns the trauma of witnessing his passing and fears for her safety, we’re raising funds for funeral costs and relocation support so this family can begin to heal.
- About Derez Derez Ysaguirre was a 35-year-old young man with a big heart and even bigger dreams. He was passionate about helping others and aspired to work in the justice system, standing up for those without proper representation — people whose stories too often go unheard. He had a deep love for his family and was looking forward to the next chapter of his life with his pregnant girlfriend, his “true love.” Derez believed in love, compassion, second chances and being present for others.
- What Happened: On February 4th, Derez’s life was tragically and violently taken. Out of genuine concern, he went to check on his girlfriend, whom he hadn’t spoken to for a few days. They met outside his sister’s home, and they began to talk — worried, but relieved to see each other. In an instant, that moment of care turned into tragedy. A man known to his pregnant girlfriend appeared and shot Derez point blank in the stomach , right in front of his mother and who was walking toward them at that very moment. Derez’s mother witnessed her son collapse before her eyes — a trauma no parent should ever experience. The shooter fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended.

Derez’s mother — still haunted by what she saw — now must relocate to protect herself and her loved ones while mourning the loss of her son.
