Paxton - Stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Victoria! I am creating this Go-Fund Me for my cousin Alexis for her sweet son Paxtons' medical expenses. Paxton is 3 years old and diagnosed with Stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer.
Alexis took Paxton to the ER for an upset stomach from digesting paper, got sent to urgent care and sent home. Alexis took him back to the ER because he was still not himself and her mother's intuition. After finding he did not have any paper in his intestines, they did find a 6cm mass in his chest cavity between his heart and lungs. They were transferred to Texas Children. They performed a biopsy, port placement and bone marrow retrieval. They then found fluid in his abdominal cavity and also in his lung. The fluid in his lung was also extracted and tested. They confirmed that the fluid in his lung is the same fluid from the tumor. The abdominal fluid is his body reacting to the tumor. He is on diuretics to release the pressure in his stomach. He is on oxygen and is slowly trying to wean off of it. The first round of Chemotherapy was administered on August 10th. The next day they took an X-ray, which showed that the fluid in his lung was a little more than the day before. The fluid in his abdominal cavity had improved, and he reached the goal amount the Drs wanted out of his belly! He has officially been diagnosed with stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma. Paxtons breathing began to worsen. They took another x-ray, and the fluid in the lung had worsened. So they just finished intubating him and began preparing for the procedure to drain the fluid out of his lung. He has been on a ventilator until the fluid stops accumulating and the chemo starts working. After the marrow retrieval, he got his first blood transfusion. Paxton received surgery where they placed his port and going to give him paracentesis (abdominal drain) surgery. The next day they were still draining fluid from his lung and every 6 hours removing 200ccs of fluid off his stomach. Two days later, they had to place another drain in his other lung to relieve pressure. His abdominal drainage and other lung drainage were better. He was still on the ventilator at 65%. The next day Alexis had a meeting with all of the Doctors. Because of his tumor shrinking, they were able to see possibly another tumor in his IVC. It isn’t completely blocking the artery enough for them to remove it surgically. They will be able to treat it with his chemotherapy. He is currently on blood clot meds to help dissolve anything in his system. On August 5th, PAXTON DOES NOT HAVE CANCER IN HIS BONE MARROW! PET scan results show that he only has cancer in the mass in his chest and possibly the lymph node behind the mass, BUT THAT’S IT! It can be treated with radiation and chemo! On August 17th, they lowered the oxygen again on his ventilator and have been doing little trials of him breathing on his own, and he’s doing fantastic! August 18th, Paxton is about to get his second round of chemo! They are still planning to take him off of the ventilator tomorrow!
We are so grateful Paxton is making improvements, and we have been given some wonderful news. It will still be a long road for Paxton and his family. The deductible for insurance alone is almost $9,000. This does not include gas from Mont Belvieu, TX to Texas Children.
