My Run for the Animals!

My name is Jorge Travieso. I am a police officer for Miami-Dade County. On January 27, 2013 I will be participating in my first half marathon, the ING in Miami, FL. This is a personal goal for me since I had a crippling condition which had me confined to my house for over 6 months and ultimately resulted in back surgery.  I feel like I was given a second chance at life after my surgery and am so grateful to have the oppurtunity to be able to complete this marathon. I want to give others, and more importantly, those with no voice, the same oppurtunity.

Being an animal lover and knowing that we are the voice for our animals, I am trying to raise money for a non-profit organization I believe is making a difference in the world of our 4 legged friends.  Paws 4 You Rescue is an organization that removes animals from the harsh conditions of and off the euthanasia list of Miami-Dade's high kill animal shelters.

The animals rescued by Paws 4 You are given medical care and another opportunity to find a forever home. Before being adopted out, animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped  and spayed/neutered.  Paws 4 You helps find foster homes for these animals and also provides a 'Seniors for Seniors' Program that match the elderly in our community with senior dogs for a second chance at life.

Please help me help these animals who depend on us to be their voices.  Over 100 animals are killed daily at these high kill shelters and Paws 4 You could not make a dent in these numbers without the help and the support of our community.  I appreciate any contribution and no amount is too little and will make a difference.  Thank you for taking the time to read my page.
