Althea Bernstein Paws and Reflect Farm

Details:  This fundraiser is approved by Althea and her parents. The Boys and Girls Club supports this. We also encourage people supporting The Boys and Girls Club. Funds from this campaign go directly to Althea toward animal rescue efforts.  Althea and her family requested no personal assistance. In this time of learning about this tragedy, it is helpful to us all to have somewhere constructive to turn our energy toward. In the name of transformation and positivity, this fundraiser has been built.

Althea envisions a place for kids to come and work with rescue animals and also young adults who are having trouble and need a healthy place to work for a while.  She envisions a farm of healing for all.

THE STORY:  Once in a lifetime you find yourself in the presence of a Super Hero. I found myself sitting across from one at the holiday dinner party at the Oregon, WI Fire Department in December 2019. Her name was Althea. She was a quiet girl who looked too young to be a first responder. I assumed she was a guest or relative of one. A few words into our greeting I discovered this young lady was an EMT, only 18 years old, filled with dreams of changing the world. I was instantly humbled and captivated by her story. I remember sitting up straight and taking a long look at this girl, thinking, THIS is a game changing human being. This is someone who deserves all of our attention.

As she spoke, I remember waking up to the feeling that I was in the presence of someone spectacular. Sitting there, biting into an AMAZING holiday cookie artistically decorated as an ambulance, I learned that she had dreams of epic proportion for helping the human race. She was passionate and ready to do whatever it took to serve the community. One of her dreams was to buy a farmette in Oregon, WI and run an animal rescue. I also learned that she was the one who baked the amazing ambulance cookies!!!

Fast forward to 4:48 PM today when I received an email that she had been attacked in her car, lighter fluid poured on her, fire thrown into her face.

My knees bent. My heart fell. I could hardly make it through reading the words of the message. I took deep breaths until I almost hyperventilated myself.

Then I stood up. And with all the rage I wanted to run out into the street with I instead thought, "what can I do for Althea?" The answer came immediately.

I am here tonight, asking the world to join with me in making a miracle. I am asking us all to put in a dollar, or two, or ten to making something good come from this. Althea loves animals, and so do I. I am committed to helping her open her animal sanctuary. Please put your heart into this with me tonight.

Althea has a heart filled with love, enthusiasm and great purpose. Her parents are astounding, compassionate people. Her friends could fill up the Rose Bowl Stadium. The men who inflicted this upon her lack love, support and purpose. They live in a world of fear and unfortunate lies. They are broken people.

As I write, Althea is in the hospital battling 3rd degree burns that she is not even complaining about. Please join me in visualizing her full recovery.  Please join me in realizing her dream of a beautiful house on a farm filled with busy volunteers buzzing around (me being one of them!). Let's change this world.
