Paw Parent's Funds Are Drained After Emergency Surgery!

Hi, I’m Isabell Csaki, president and founder of Paw Parent.
Paw Parent Animal Sanctuary in Lancaster, California is a non-profit 501(c)(3), no kill, all breed, domestic companion animal rescue organization dedicated to placing homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in permanent, loving, responsible homes. All animals are fully vetted before adoption.
Our continuing mission is to rescue and provide safe, responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals.

We are in desperate need of financial support! Here is our story:

It was a calm and mellow Friday evening on August 1st. All our sanctuary inhabitants were steadily winding down. We did our last kennel check to make sure everyone was settled in for the night. Joey, a cattle dog mix, who has been with Paw Parent Sanctuary since 2019, sat listless in the corner, with her usual sparkle gone from her eyes. Joey was not doing well! She had trouble standing and was clearly in agony.
Unforeseen things happen in animal care at the least expected moments. We tried to identify the issue and immediate decisions had to be made. Without a moment to lose and since all regular vet clinics were closed already Joey had to be rushed to an emergency clinic where our worst fears came true; x-rays revealed a blockage in her intestines!
Joey was dehydrated and so the first course of action was to give her fluids to rehydrate and stimulate her system, with the hope that her intestines would begin to move and clear the blockage on their own.
We had to leave Joey at the vet and received the unfortunate news at 3:30am that despite all the fluids the blockage had not moved, which meant that now surgery was the only way to remove whatever was blocking her intestines.
So, at 4am Joey went into the operating room. It is a dangerous surgery and we were very worried for her, but thankfully she made it though. She had ingested pieces of her blankets that had become stuck in her intestinal tract. We were able to pick her up at midnight on Saturday and she is now comfortably resting and recovering here at Paw Parent.
The cost of her vet stay including x-ray, hydration treatment and surgery came to $6415.00

As a non-profit rescue we are dependent on donations from animal loving people like you and are always operating on a shoe string, and since we had no choice then to treat Joey at an after hour emergency vet, this expense ripped a gaping hole into our already slim budget. Now we need to fill that hole, so that we can continue to help animals like Joey in a time of dire need.

Paw Parent rescued Joey over five years ago. She came to us with her sister Jinx from the high kill Devore shelter in San Bernardino, both of them were extremely fearful of people. After lots of time and TLC Jinx came around and found a loving home while Joey, still to this day, is terrified of people except of our dedicated helper Matt, whom she trust wholeheartedly, and our founder Isabell with whom she loves to play ball and whom she occasionally allows to pet her.
Unfortunately her fearful behavior has made her unadoptable, but we are committed to giving her a peaceful and safe life at the sanctuary.

We're now asking kindly for donations to help us with this unexpected expense. We appreciate your support and dedication to helping us cover Joey’s staggering vet bill.
Your kindness not only heals Joey's body but also reinforces a fundamental truth: every animal deserves the chance to live a life with a bright and shining spirit.
