39 year old Paul Bondanza was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer July 6, 2016. He has been fighting every step of the way. I would so appreciate you reading on about his fight for life and consider making a donation so that we can know what it is to truly live a life again-a life free of disease and pain.

Paul's battle with Cancer began July 2016. Paul was diagnosed with Stage lV Colon Cancer that had spread to his liver. This diagnosis was a huge shock to him as well as his family and friends. Paul's first step was to have surgery to redirect his colon "Loop Colostomy". After a six day stay at the hospital Paul came home with a Ostomy bag. The insertion of a Power Port was his next procedure . This is a device that is surgically installed under the skin on his right pectoral in which Paul has been receiving all his chemotherapy and other IV drugs. Paul battled with a vigorous Chemotherapy regiment along with loosing over 25lbs. His chemo days consisted of 7 hours of treatment, and would also go home with a chemo pump which was a 48 hour infusion. After ten rounds and countless scans and MIR's it was brought to Paul's attention that one of the chemo drugs was damaging the good portion of his liver. After much discussion, they decided to start Paul on a new chemo that would not affect his liver. January of this year Paul started his new treatment which was less stress on Paul's mind and body. His appetite came back and was slowly gaining his weight back . Paul even discussed returning back to work.

Paul had four rounds of this new Chemotherapy and then he had his CAT scan and MIR. March 21, 2017 Paul got the results. To the shock and awe of the doctors , the Cancer had increased in size in both locations. As you can imagine we were truly devastated. Paul's options at this point are very limited. His doctors are going to start him on a drug "Vectibix" that is supposed to stop the growth of the cancer . Along with "Vectibix" that is given to Paul every other week he has also had radiation on his liver. Radioembolization is a minimally invasive treatment for cancerous tumors of the liver. During a radioembolization an Interventional Radiologist uses imaging techniques to guide a catheter to the artery that feeds the liver tumor. This treatment method delivers high dose radiation directly to the tumor. As you can imagine the radiation takes it toll on Paul. We are hoping and praying these new treatments have a positive effect. We have also reached out to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for a second opinion. Paul has been through a lot over the last ten months but his attitude has always been upbeat and optimistic. Please understand that we cannot do it without you. The donations raised here would be used for outstanding medical bills, new prescriptions, clinical trials and surgery. We would like to thank everyone for all the love and support and would like you to thank you for helping save Paul's life. Let's RALLY for Paul. Thank you .
