Patty has been legally blind since she was 10 years old due to Stargart's (an inherited congenital eye disease.) She retired from a developmental disabilities center after 21 years of service. She worked for Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc., initiated Eyedeal Friends of Knox County ( a chapter of the American Council of the Blind) proposed and testified for Service Animal Protection Law in Ohio, and later served on Governor's Council on People with Disabilities under former Governor Ted Strickland.
Her current adventure is to fly to Fort Launderdale on April 5th to have a stem cell transplant treatment at ParkCreek Surgical Center. Her own bone marrow stem cells will be used to hopefully regain usable vision.
This treatment is very expensive and not covered by health insurance. Please donate to help Patty regain her sight.
