Patty's Car Fund

As many of you know my good friend, Patty Galatis is a home health aide for UNC Hospice.  She travels daily to the homes of hospice patients to help them with bathing and other very personal needs of daily living.  The people she serves appreciate her kind, gentle ways and sense of humor at a time when it is difficult to find light in the gravity of their situations.

Patty has to have a reliable car to do her job.  Most of you know Patty has been driving some ancient cars for many years.  She has done some of her own repairs and jerry rigging on her cars, but they are still clunkers. 

 Now she is in a real pickle.  She owns 2 ancient chariots and both are in bad shape.  She has had to have 3 tows home in the last month.  Not only does she drive old cars, Patty has recently had some expensive health care (like there is any other kind). In our upside down economy hospice aides are paid very little --hardly a living wage.

 Patty has always lived frugally, but without the parachute of family ties who can step in during crisis, she could use a little loving kindness from her friends and our wider community.  It would be terrific to be able to help her purchase a newer car with low mileage! Unless she wins the lottery, cars like this are out of her price range.
