Help to send Patrik back to the Czech Republic

Donation protected
Patrik needs support to go home; his story is long and missing details, but the one fact that remains is that he needs to go back to his country.

A message from Adama Jarju and Pastor Moses:

Tuesday, June 17th: We secured the passport, and his flight has been booked. In just about a week, he’ll be on the plane! Now we have reached our financial goal to cover these expenses. However, Adama has still suffered financial losses from her 2 months hosting him. So we continue to raise a little bit to help her.

Saturday, 14 June: I met with the consular in Gambia. He agreed to issue an emergency passport for Patrik, but requires a flight to the Czech Republic. If funds can be raised to help get the flight, I could stay here longer to make sure it happens; however, I’m considering his physical state and believe the government should intervene to make sure he gets there safely, and not just put him on a flight. Any advice is welcome.

UPDATE: His family agreed to take him home, we feel blessed and grateful. We still need to make arrangements for his arrival from the airport to go smoothly.

This is the story of Patrik Sysel in Gambia near Brikama at farm and guest house, and they received a guest from Czech Republic on Booking, he came for one night but then paid for a week, but now he’s been here for a month and he doesn’t have any money or a passport.
They don’t know his story, but didn’t have the heart to throw him out, he’s in a wheelchair and seems to have some physical problems, and doesn’t speak much English. They’ve been giving him food, even clothes, since he showed up with no luggage at all. His mobile phone was broken, and a local Pastor took it to be fixed so we could contact his family. No clue how long he’s been in Gambia or how he even got here! Patrik is just 28 years old, and he claims to have been in Gambia for 2 years.

Initially, the Consulate and Embassy in Dakar Senegal were not cooperative with giving him assistance; however, as of June 14th, they have agreed to issue him emergency travel documents, but we need to raise funds to get him a flight and cover some expenses.

The story is long and drawn out, although his past is complicated and he may have done things wrong, his condition presently is very bad and he needs urgent help from his government and country. He cannot survive in Gambia, and he needs to leave Africa IMMEDIATELY. His family does not want to help him or offer to help him in any way, so for the sake of humanity, we cannot leave him here alone. The Gambian people have been very kind and generous, helping him, but here are the facts.

  • Patrik has been in The Gambia since 2023
  • He is a citizen of the Czech Republic
  • He has no money and no passport
  • He has many debts in Gambia
  • He is currently staying in a guesthouse in Sifoe, which has been sheltering and feeding him for more than a month

Patrik is a very agreeable person who could be an easy target for manipulation. He has made MANY mistakes, and there are many missing parts of his story; however, the fact remains he MUST go home. We don't condone his behavior, but he is in no condition to survive on his own. 2 years in Gambia is too long, he needs to go home, he is clearly a victim to individuals who exploited or took advantage of him in some ways.

If you read the last posts about Patrick from the Czech Republic, the story continues, unfortunately, as he is a victim, so are the people who help him.

Adama Jarju - on Facebook

I want to bring attention to Adama Jarju, who has been hosting him for the last month. Adama is a manager of a women’s football team based in Sifoe and also a farmer and business owner. Struggling with her financial troubles and efforts to start her business while this young boy was dropped into her life. She has yet to have him leave her place, and the financial and mental tolls are great.

Wanted to post a link, if you're in the area and can do anything to return the kindness she has done for this boy, book a night's stay at her place, support her women’s team, or even just give her a like on Facebook! I think it would be a great gesture.
