My name is Eric Adams and I want to tell you about my friends Patrick O'Shea and his husband Isaac Prado.

Isaac and I have been friends for 20 years and Patrick came along and swept Isaac off his feet 17 years ago.

They were one of those fairy tale couples--perfectly matched, perfectly suited to each other, both of them pushing the other to grow. And then they met the world as a couple--and everyone who met them wanted to be their friend! With healthy careers in the hospitality and entertainment production industries respectively, the love and friendships were overflowing!

Patrick managed prestigious luxury properties for many years, but then decided to tackle the world of real estate. He quickly made an impression (and several hundred friends!) And even though he excelled at being a realtor, he eventually got an invitation to return as the General Manager of the new Sunset Tower Hotel. Isaac meanwhile was growing his professional career and getting styling assignments around the globe. It was a charmed life!

While things were progressing swimmingly, Patrick and Isaac got their first bad news. Patrick had a rare form of leukemia. Initially, things progressed as normal. The leukemia was controlled by medication. But eventually, Patrick's immune system developed a resistance to the medication. It was then suggested that a stem-cell transplant would be a possible cure for his condition. His brother Seamus was a match and came all the way from Ireland for the challenging transplant. It was considered a success and the leukemia was no longer a danger!

But unfortunately, later on, Patrick developed a rare reaction to the transplant called Graft Versus Host Disorder where the body tries to reject a transplant. It was eventually debilitating to the point where he had to leave the career he loved so much.

For six years Patrick and Isaac have struggled with nerve pain, wounds, mobility restrictions, hundreds of hospital visits and a suppressed immune system--not to mention the struggle of now being a single-paycheck family in an unstable industry. All these six years, Isaac has been a tireless caregiver. Patrick could be a stubborn patient, resisting limits placed on his movements or his lifestyle. He was always super-engaged with the world and stayed that way--always wanting to discuss what was happening in his neighborhood or in far flung destinations! Patrick and Isaac didn't let the disorder alter their biggest wish and were married after it became legal in California!

This week, Isaac welcomed hundreds of visitors from around the world to say farewell to Patrick in his hospital bed while offering support to Isaac and the rest of the family. I watched Patrick put up a strong fight and a brave face for six long years, but unfortunately, his battle ended on February 25, 2016 and there is peace.

To honor Patrick's life, and to give much-needed support to Isaac, we're setting up this crowdfunding site. Funds will go directly to Isaac to cover funeral expenses, and to provide time for grieving. Much of the fund will be  used right away, and some will be in reserve for Isaac to return with Patrick and have services in his first home, Ireland.

Isaac and Patrick have been running a marathon for the last 6 years. In the process, they've needed to sell their home and leave their cherished neighbors on Perlita Dr. Let's give Isaac the support that will help him the most during this difficult time.

I know that Patrick would be so proud and thankful for all his friends and loved ones who are able to give, regardless of the amount.

And I will be most grateful for those of you who can help my friends.

Thank you

Eric
