Grandpa Pat Obendorf's Funeral Fund
Donation protected
It's with a heavy heart that I have to ask this, but unfortunatley, my sister and I have just a couple of days to come up with an extra $3,200 dollars to pay for our grandpa's funeral :-/
Our grandpa Pat Obendorf was the kindest, most selfless man we have ever known and would go out of his way to help anyone and everyone. He helped raise me and several other grandchildren. He was God fearing military man that always put others needs ahead of his own....he deserves a proper funeral.
He visited Feller's Funeral Home in Waterloo, some time ago and put his wishes in writing. Even after the tough decision of having to alter some of his wishes due to cost, and by spending every penny he had left, we are still short $3,200 (and that's without flowers, headstone, bells or whistles).
Amy and I were the only family members willing/able to sign the contract being responsible for these costs. Without our agreeing to take on responsibility, the funeral home was unwilling to move forward, so we had no option then to make sure he is taken care of.
Dylan, a great-grandson is trying to expedite a military loan so we can hopefully have the money by Wednesday, as required. Any donations that come in after Wednesday will go towards his loan if he is able to secure it. Anything past the $3,200 will go towards a headstone for grandpa and his wife that he burried last winter and then to Hospice which was so wonderful to him and us during his last days.
Thank you for reading this far. Every dollar helps... and he would have given his last dollar to help a stranger.
