Pastor Kathy Battles Breast Cancer

Donation protected
My mom, Kathy Frumoff, is the strongest woman that I know. She is facing the biggest challenge of her life in every aspect as she was given the shocking diagnosis of advanced stage IV breast cancer several weeks ago. In February, Kathy began experiencing back pain and tried to see her primary care doctor. Unable to get in quick enough, Kathy went to a chiropractor looking to alleviate the pain to find enough relief to enjoy a trip planned to see family in Chicago in March. The pain continued to get worse, and the trip to Chicago was a happy reunion with loved ones but an excruciating experience. Upon returning to Florida, I took my mom to the Emergency Room with the thought that she had a pinched nerve, only to be given frightful news that the back pain was caused by cancer. The last several weeks since diagnosis have been filled with more appointments and more questions than we seem to be able to find answers to. We are lucky to have an excellent team of doctors both in Ft Myers and at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. My mom has started an oral chemotherapy treatment, will begin radiation, and has the need for future surgery. MorMor is Swedish for grandmother, and Kathy is lovingly called "Momo" by her grandsons. Momo has strong Swedish roots and a family history of survivors. Her grandfather, Fish Hassell or "Papa", for example, held pilot license no. 20 and survived after an emergency landing on a Greenland Ice Cap charting the Great Circle Route. Kathy too is a survivor. It is my mom's greatest desire to serve God. She felt called to serve the Lord at only 14 years old. Even through illness her biggest hope and dream is to maintain who she is by being a servant to Him and her greatest motivation to get to the other side of this journey is to remain true to her calling and to love her family with all her heart. Kathy continues to serve for 18 years at Faith United Methodist Church where she was previously the Children's Ministry Pastor, and now serves as the Congregational Care Pastor. She has been involved in many community outreach programs such as Blankets for Blessings, Gladiolus Food Pantry, Homeless Ministries in Ft Myers & local mission work. She loves teaching, preaching, and praying. All donations will be used for anything related to medical expenses including medication expenses, travel to and from Moffitt Cancer Center, surgical expenses, etc. Updates on Kathy's health journey can be found on CaringBridge: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/pastorkathyfrumoff Thank you and God Bless, Beth
