This summer, we will offer our first series of Art Camps for ages PreK-High School! Through generous donations and support we have acquired a second classroom in our building allowing us to offer multiple programs at once.
We have had many inquiries from families in need who know how much their children could benefit from our Summer Art Camps. We have started a scholarship fund for these children and currently have collected $350.
ALL DONATIONS AT THIS POINT WILL GO INTO OUR SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO SEND CHILDREN TO ART CAMP.
Half day camp sessions are $85/week for PreK-5th Grade and $100/week for 8th-12th Grade. We have an amazing team of professional teaching artists assembled to give these children the experience of a lifetime this summer!
We appreciate any contribution, in any amount, to help us reach our goals and provide as much as we possibly can to our community!

There are certain moments in our lives that define us. Perhaps not the events, but the way we react to them. I’m sure there is a cliché meme for that out there somewhere. I am an artist, an educator, and a single mother who recently found myself unexpectedly out of work. The experience left me afraid, confused, frustrated…I’m not sure there is an emotion I didn’t feel in days immediately following. But I also experienced this amazing outpouring of love and support. Many of my former students’ parents have contacted me asking if I would teach somewhere else so their children can still take my classes. Teaching is my passion. Teaching students who may struggle in a traditional classroom is why I do what I do. I love to design projects and programs that prove to children (and adults) that they are capable of learning and succeeding and of creating something beautiful.
With so many wonderful people supporting me, I began to think “what if?” "What if I can continue to do the work that means so much to me, just in a different form?" "What if I could create and run something that would fulfill my dreams and provide something I truly believe in to this community that I love so much?"
So, in this moment, when I could be angry and become hardened, I choose something else. I choose to create something new and beautiful and to provide an inclusive space for all ages to explore their creativity, to play, and to learn. I choose to create an authentic business that is run with integrity and heart and that reflects the community of which it is a part. With your help, I will create Paper Moon Studio.
Paper Moon Studio, located in the heart of historic Abingdon, VA will offer a creative play space, drop in art and craft classes for all ages, open studio time, medium specific class series’, a small retail and gallery space, and so much more! Given my current circumstance, I don’t have a lot of time and I can work fast and am ready to get back in the classroom!
Thank you so much for your support!
