Dear Friends and Community Members,
Every so often, if you’re lucky, you get to meet someone who is truly selfless and devotes their time to being of service to others. Huan “Papa” Chu is such a person, and now he needs our help. At the end of 2020, Papa Chu was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer that has metastasized to the brain. We can make a difference in the Chu family's lives and support a man who generously shares his time, friendship, and expertise with others. We have started a GoFundMe to help Papa Chu and his family with the numerous, unforeseeable expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. We know that the Coronavirus has hit everyone in different and challenging ways, and times are tough for many. A monetary contribution in any amount, words of encouragement, and prayers would be so very appreciated and will make a real difference for the family.
Papa Chu has been a tremendous influence in all of the lives he has encountered. For years, he voluntarily designed and built sets for the drama department at Nobel Middle School. Generously donating hundreds and hundreds of hours of his free time, Papa Chu’s work ethic and dedication are impeccable. He created magical worlds with few resources and taught us all the power of imagination paired with a can-do attitude. Papa Chu is also a committed father who led his life putting his family first in all his endeavors. His influence has led to his oldest daughter Megan graduating from UCLA in 2021 with a BS in Physiological Science and an English Minor. Vivian is also at UCLA in her freshman year studying Engineering, and Ethan is a freshman in the Core program at Cleveland High School.
We thank you for taking the time to read this, making a donation of any amount, and encouraging others to donate by sharing this message and the GoFundMe page. It is in moments like these that we all need to unite to help others in need. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
With gratitude,
Nobel Middle School Drama Department
