Chances are you or someone you know has adopted a dog from Pal’s Place in Chicago. This wonderful shelter owner, Samantha, rescues dogs from all over, but especially from states where pounds and animal control are nearly at capacity resulting in high euthanasia rates. She often drives many hours in order to save a dog from such a terrible fate. Of course, she can never save just one because she has a huge heart. She usually returns having rescued several dogs of various ages and needs with the hopes of giving them a better life. The dogs she rescues have typically been neglected and arrive with a variety of medical issues including: broken legs, pregnancy, malnutrition, dental issues, heartworm disease and mange. She nurses these dogs back to health both emotionally and physically. In addition, most dogs she recues also need to be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated before they are ready for adoption. Samantha manages each adoption thoughtfully and attentively, as again, her big heart and desire to give these dogs a better life comes first and foremost. Each dog who comes through Pal's Place, no matter for how long, is special to Samantha. She remembers each and every dog she has rescued and loves to keep in touch with their forever families.
Running a rescue is not easy or glamorous though. It takes a selfless and hardworking person to put in the hours needed to nurture, care for, love, and eventually place these dogs. Pal’s Place has been responsible for rescuing more than 1,500 dogs since opening, but unexpected expenses due to consistent rescuing have added up. Veterinarian bills alone can be anywhere from $1,200 to $5,000 a month. We have started this Go Fund Me page to help support Pal’s Place in their continued efforts to rescue dogs in need.
Money donated will be used for various items such as; medical needs, vet bills, dog food, dog beds, cleaning supplies, treatments, grooming, crates, treats, toys etc.
