Support Allison’s Journey
Donation protected
Allison has been on a long journey. It started with a sprained ankle. Then it was evident there was a neurological issue going on. In just over 1 year, she went from doing backflips to being unable to walk. She is dependent on a specialized, tilt in space wheelchair. She is diagnosed with Complex Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. This condition causes her spinal cord to degenerate. She battles severe spasticity along with significant weakness. It also comes with a dysfunctional autonomic nervous system. To manage, she utilizes a gtube and many medications. She has also been diagnosed with lung disease. While there is no cure, there are multiple treatments. Unfortunately for Allison, she has a rather medically refractory case. She doesn’t respond to the treatments. She continues to battle debilitating symptoms. All of her tests have come back indicating HSP progression. She has had over 12 surgeries already. To try and aide the regression from her disease, we travel 18hrs 1x a year for intensive therapy. She doesn’t respond 5 hours a day for 3 weeks. Totaling 75 hours of therapy. This has made a huge impact. However, to do this we have to leave our beloved dogs behind. This cost adds up quickly. Though they are happy, it is still difficult to. Along with this we travel every 3 months about 5hrs away for medical care. With 5 pets at home this is a lot. But we try and make the most of it. To add on to things, we are divorcing. This means we live on a single income. Through it all, Allison is till her spunky, and spicy self. Any amount of donation makes an impact. We are currently trying to fund Allison an adaptive stroller that is comfortable and versatile. This will make travel easier, and allow her to face me when pushing her. Allison deals with auditory processing disorder so facing away from her has made it harder for her to catch what I’m saying. This will make a great impact as she can face directly in front of me. Thank you!!
