From Lucania to Pakistan Mountains

ecco un piccolo aggiornamento sulla mia prossima avventura.
Grazie all ' aiuto dell' amico , Roberto Lapolla , sono riuscito a confermare il trekking del K2  con Alpine Adventure Guides ed il suo leader , Ali Baltoro. Le richieste di visto e di autorizzazione a scalare sono state inoltrate a chi di competenza e , nel giro di tre settimane , conto di avere tutti i documenti che mi servono.
La partenza e' prevista da Skardu per il giorno 1 di Luglio . Si trattera'di 17/18 giorni di cammino sulla catena del Karakorum , scollinando sul Gondgoro La a 5.850 metri con vista dei Big Five , le cinque cime che superano gli 8000 metri e sono raggruppate tra di loro ( K2,Broad Peak , Nanga Parbat , Gash 1 e 2 ).
Ritorno a Skardu , riposo per qualche giorno per facilitare l ' acclimatamento e possibile ripartenza con altri 4/6 scalatori per una spedizione sullo Spantik Peak  ( 7027 metri ); montagna meglio conosciuta come Pilone D' Oro o Golden Peak .
I preparativi sono ancora in corso , ma tutto sembra procedere nel migliore dei modi.
Il sogno di visitare la catena del Karakorum e' sempre stato vivo in me , sin da quando " sgambettavo " sulle montagne Lucane ed Italiane. Ho respirato nelle storie di avventura ed alpinismo la magia e la bellezza di questi luoghi ed adesso e' arrivato il momento di vivere questa esperienza in prima persona .L ' entusiasmo e' grande.
L'uomo sceglie sempre luoghi lontani per compiere imprese difficili e valorose. Lo faccio anche io, ma vorrei raccontare a tutti voi questa esperienza , perche' possiate viverla attraverso me. Saro' uno dei pochi lucani a visitare questi luoghi , noti solo a grandi alpinisti ed esploratori , quindi c'e anche l orgoglio di portare la bandiera di Potenza sulla cima dello Spantik , e immortalare il momento con il K2 sullo sfondo. 
Riuscire a scalare un 7000 metri puo' essere motivo di soddisfazione e sicuramente una prova importante e formativa , anche per imprese future , ma l'obiettivo vero sara' per me guardarmi dentro  , e nello stupore massimo della bellezza e del potere della natura , apprezzare il grande dono della vita.
Ho creato nei giorni scorsi una campagna di crowdfunding per raccogliere i fondi per supportare questo viaggio ed avere un seguito sui social acquisendo credibilita ed interesse per questa impresa. 
Ringrazio tutti coloro che mi hanno aiutato finora . Grazie al loro supporto , sono riuscito ad assicurarmi un posto nella spedizione e rimango fiducioso che l'interesse per l 'impresa che mi accingo a fare ed il supporto cresceranno ancora mano a mano che vi aggiorno sui preparativi . Come diceva Toto' "e' la somma che fa il totale" , ogni aiuto ha il suo valore .

here is a little update on my upcoming trip:

Thanks to the help of my friend Roberto Lapolla - I was able to confirm the K2 trek. I will reach Broad Peak and Gash 1 and 2 with Alpine Adventure Guides and its leader, Ali Baltoro. The requests for visas and authorization to climb have been forwarded to those in charge and - within 3 weeks - I expect to have all the documents I need. 

The departure is scheduled from Skardu for the 1st of July. It will be 17/18 days of trekking on the Karakorum chain, descending on the Gondgoro La at 5,850 mt and view of the Big Five: the five peaks that exceed 8000 meters and are grouped together. 
Return to Skardu. Rest for a few days to facilitate acclimatization and possible departure with 4 other climbers for an expedition to Spantik Peak (7027 meters): mountain better known as the Golden Peak.

Preparations are still in progress, but everything seems to be going well.

The dream of visiting the Karakorum has always been alive in me, ever since I was "toddling" in the mountains of Lucania and Italy. I have breathed in the stories of adventure and mountaineering the magic and beauty of these places and now the time has come to live this experience in first person. The enthusiasm is great.

It will certainly be a challenging and risky undertaking with an uncertain outcome, but the intention to go all the way is with me. The main ingredients of this type of adventure are all there: risk, danger, strong emotions, the spectacle of nature and that unconscious need to surpass oneself. 

Man always chooses distant places to accomplish difficult and valiant undertakings. I do it too, but I would like to tell all of you about this experience, so that you can live it through me. I will be one of the few Lucanians to visit these places, known only to great mountaineers and explorers, so there is also the pride of carrying the flag of Potenza on the top of Spantik, and immortalize the moment with the K2 in the background.

Being able to climb the 7000mt can be a reason of satisfaction and surely an important and formative test, also for future enterprises, but the real goal will be for me to look inside myself, and - in the maximum amazement of the beauty and the power of nature - to appreciate the great gift of life.

I created a crowdfunding campaign in recent days to raise funds to support my journey and have a following on social media and gain credibility for my venture.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me so far. Thanks to their support, I was able to secure a spot on the expedition and I remain confident that interest in my upcoming venture and support will grow even more as I update you on the preparations. 


As Totò said: "it's the sum that makes the total" - every help has its value.
