The Real Life of PTSD. Henry Family

Donation protected

We are raising money for the Henry family...Nick, Paula, Camila and Liam.

Their story is a classic PTSD story:

Nick served 6 tours in Iraq in the USMC.

(Nick and His Brothers)

When he came home, he deployed almost immediately as a contractor. Why deploy again, once a civilian? Because Nick needed to provide for his family.

Paula started noticing PTSD symptoms in Nick in between his tours but they seemed manageable.

However, at this point, Nick is suffering from severe, life-restricting PTSD. He can't sleep or he sleeps for days. He is not eating. He cannot find a job or hold down a job. He paces the floor constantly. He jumps at the slightest movement or sound that he doesn't expect. He has bursts of anger that scare his wife and children and then (when he realizes what he has done) he feels worse than before and the cycle starts over.

(Nick and the kids..He loves them so much and that is why this is so important!)

The family has reached out to several Vet programs and those programs are trying to get them some help but, as Nick says, "there are a lot of us who need help". The VA is working on upgrading Nick's status but that is also a very long process. Nick has started outpatient therapy to deal with his PTSD and that is helping but, he needs to have intense inpatient therapy and he cannot start that because it would leave his wife and children with no income whatsoever.

As you can imagine, a Marine is always able to provide and protect so it is overwhelming to him that he is unable to do either right now. Getting the help he needs will require him to leave his pregnant wife and two children with absolutely no income for the duration of his care. The family has sold everything that is of any value, just to make ends meet.

The Henry's are expecting a new baby around Christmastime and they need help!

They need food, diapers, baby supplies. They need rent and utilities caught up and paid. They need to stock their fridge and pantry.

They need ENOUGH MONEY so that Nick can get the help he desperately needs and this family can survive.

It is DISGRACEFUL that a veteran has to go through this. He should be thanked and praised and offered the best care (for him and his family) that there is to offer but that is simply not the case.

Nick and Paula have earned this help 100 times over; they have sacrificed for all of us. It is time for us to reach out and help them!

Please help us to help this United States Veteran and his family become whole once again!

Thank you!

Thanks from Camila and Liam!
