Hello friends, family, PSR community, and social justice folk everywhere! We are working to raise money for PSR Changemaker Fellow Varthana to participate in the Guatemala Immersion portion of the GTU fellowship program.
The program is designed to bring remarkable social change advocates to Berkeley to exchange ideas, build relationships, and learn from on another. Varthana has an incredible influence and history teaching in Cambodia and hopes to return to bring a dialogue around spirituality and health to top univesrities in Cambodia.
The fellowship includes an immersion to Guatemala for major international exchange experience. However, because of certain US Visa protocols and hoops, he discovered that he would be required to fly back to Cambodia to meet with a handful of ministries in order to be legally allowed back into the US to finish his graduate program. This is a cost that the school cannot absorb despite the Fellowship being full tuition. He also is legally not allowed to work more than ten hours per week to offset the costs, nor can he open a credit card to pay off over time.
The rest of the Fellows in his cohort do not have to face these same hurdles or worry about personally procuring funds due to our American passports, visas, or resident priveledges. We would like to reach out to our networks and communities to ask for any support you might be able to offer in the form of monetary donations, good will, and prayers.
Peace and many thanks.
