Emergency Medical Care - Andi

Tax deductible
Andromeda (Andi, for short) came into the Pacific Pug Rescue just under two weeks ago.  With her first visit to the vet, we found she had a liver shunt.   (What is a liver shunt?  The portal vein is a large vein that collects blood from the systemic circulation and carries it into the liver, where toxins and other byproducts are removed. A liver shunt occurs when an abnormal connection persists or forms between the portal vein or one of its branches, and another vein, allowing blood to bypass or shunt around the liver. In the majority of cases, a liver shunt is caused by a birth defect called a congenital portosystemic shunt.)

Though it is an expensive surgery, it is necessary for Andi to live a long, healthy and normal life.

The adoption donations for PPR pugs do not cover all our medical costs, and to make up the difference, we rely upon the support of people who recognize the importance of giving these poor dogs a second chance at having a loving home.
