Hurricane Ian destroyed our animals' homes, help
Donation protected
We are a local, family-owned farm in Cooper City, Florida. Most of our animals are rescues, and we love them dearly. Hurricane Ian brought heavy rains, strong winds, and severe tornadoes that destroyed many animals' enclosures and caused severe flooding.
We are still entirely underwater, and many of our animals are still stranded on the only high ground we could find for them. In addition to all the rebuilding we will have to do, we will also need to fortify the soil/land so that this does not happen again with future storms. The animals cannot afford to wait on insurance claims for their homes to be rebuilt, and insurance companies refuse to pay out claims for this type of property damage anyway.
We understand this is a trying time for many across the state and that there are certainly people in worse situations than ours-- everything in life is about perspective. We feel blessed that many of our animals survived and that our family was unharmed. Moreover, just because we are a small business does not mean we do not have immense pride-- it is not easy for us to ask for help. All that notwithstanding, we ultimately decided we had to think about what is best for our animals and that it never hurts to provide an avenue for support for those that can help.
We have a long journey ahead of us, so any little bit is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
