PLEASE HELP MY AUNTS AFTER TOXIC MOLD TRAGEDY

Donation protected
Hi Everyone, We are reaching out to our friends and family to help my two aunts Rita Bova and her wife, Linda Fischer who have been together for 35 years. They have had to unexpectedly vacate the home that they have been living in for the past 10 years in Oroville, California. The house was condemned by the city for ongoing water damage issues, city code violations, as well as toxic mold. In late February, myself, and my cousin Maria Bova went to visit our aunts and discovered these conditions. We proceeded to take the necessary steps to call the city and the Board of Health, to find out what to do about this situation, that the landlord has been ignoring for years. Upon arriving, the City immediately Red tagged the house and deemed it uninhabitable as well as unsafe. We also had an environmental specialist test the home. Due to high levels of toxic mold, my aunts have to dispose of nearly every item that they own due to contamination. They need to get rid of all their furniture, clothing, as well as most of their personal belongings that can never be replaced (family heirlooms and old memorable keepsakes). It is an extremely sad situation, no different than if the house was set on fire and burned to the ground. They have lost everything, and at the ages of 69 and 75, having to start over, it is going to be an extremely expensive time trying to find housing for them and their pets, and replacing all of their items. They have been forced to move out and have been paying to live in a motel. The landlord refuses to help relocate them, will not place dumpsters to dispose of their belongings or cooperate in any way.

The health of my aunts has been seriously affected by the toxicity within their home. These two women have already been through so many trials in their lives. They have both fought and survived breast cancer, with Linda having a reoccurrence in 2023 while living in this house. They have also survived a fire in a home many years ago, but were young enough to start over on their own. Both of my aunts Rita and Linda, are very loving, kind and giving people. They have not only been an extremely strong support system in our family, they have also opened their homes and hearts to others, especially animals.

At the moment, they are facing having to place their own elderly cats in a shelter ensuring they will be cared for until they will be reunited again, which is breaking their hearts. Seeing them go through this has been heartbreaking. We love them with all our hearts. If you’re able to donate, any amount truly will help them begin rebuilding their lives in this desperate time of need. And if you can’t donate, your prayers and support mean so much. Thank you all and God Bless you and your loved ones!
