Our amazing and caring 25 year old nephew, PJ, recently found out the horrible news that he has testicular cancer that spread to a lymph node is his abdomen.  Since August 25th, his life has changed dramatically.  It has been a frenzy of various doctor appointments, oncologist visits, CT scans and PET scans. And now he has found out that he needs chemotherapy treatment, which begins on November 4th. 

PJ moved from Canada to Massachusetts at 18 years old to find career opportunities and chase after his dreams. After being here for just a few weeks, he began working at a local cafe and walked there every day until he was able to save enough money for a car. He then was accepted to Keefe Technical School as a post high school graduate where he trained to be an electrician. With hard work, he graduated with the highest grades in his class.  After graduating, he worked for Griffin Electric and passed his state electrical exam which made him a journeyman electrician. 

Since then he has made strides in his professional life as well as his personal life as he met and fell in love with an amazing woman named Gina.   PJ and Gina recently married about 1 year ago.  Gina is an incredibly hard worker herself who put herself through a rigorous nursing program at MassBay Community College and graduated this past May with high honors.  She is just now beginning the interview process with hopes of starting her nursing career.   

I wanted to convey that PJ and Gina are extremely hard working and resourceful people.  This awful disease and the chemotherapy treatments that he must endure over these next several months, will keep PJ out of work. Gina's own career ambitions, will also be sidetracked while taking care of her husband.   As young Newlyweds just starting their lives together, this has been an extremely difficult and very scary time for both of them. 

PJ , Gina and the rest of our family, have always committed to helping people in need and giving back to our community. I mention this because this is the first time reaching out to family and friends for a financial need to be met. However, with the significant financial burden this poses to PJ and his wife based on uncovered insurance costs, necessary fertility treatments due to the chemotherapy, and many other medical related expenses, it is with a humble heart that we ask you to please consider supporting PJ and Gina in their battle against cancer.
