Eagle Project: Phoenix Center Arts

Donation protected
Phoenix Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities to participate in the visual and performing arts through quality classes, programming and events. Classes are available for youth and adults throughout the year.

Why Do We Need Your Help?  The Center’s current gallery is very small and functionally limited.  The  new gallery will provide an opportunity for both emerging and established artists to have a professional, aesthetically-pleasing setting for their work, in an easily accessible public space.

The Project:  Jackson Ridley is a 15-year-old 9th grader at Arizona School for the Arts. He has been in scouting since 1st grade and is currently working to achieve the highest rank of Eagle Scout.  A fundamental requirement to reach Eagle Scout is to plan and execute a service project that benefits an organization and the community. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Jackson approached the Phoenix Center for the Arts and offered to perform his service project there. His father, Don Ridley, has worked as the head of the ceramics department at the Phoenix Center for 10 years, so Jackson wanted to help out the organization that he has grown up around.

The project will convert a former office suite into an art gallery. In order to complete this project, the walls will need to be repainted, a window will need to be covered to remove natural lighting and a track system will be installed as well as special lighting. This will give the Phoenix Center a larger and more centrally located gallery space that will be used to showcase art for the community. This project will benefit the Phoenix Center for the Arts as well as help Jackson Ridley achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Where Will Your Money Go?  The majority of the funds will be used to purchase the specialized track & lighting system needed to display the art, allowing the Phoenix Center to provide a truly world class gallery.   (Gallery Lighting & Track System)

All labor will be provided by Boy Scout Troop 6 and volunteers.  In the event that extra funds are raised, they will be contributed directly to The Phoenix Center for the Arts.

Thank you for your contribution towards making the Phoenix Center’s new gallery a reality!
