Support Summer Studies in the Methow
Donation protected
Hi there! Ellie Potts and Pierce Bock here!
We will be attempting a 2,650 mile thru-hike from Canada to Mexico on the Pacific Crest Trail. After spending several years at Western Washington University, where we met, this 5 month thru-hike will provide us some quality time with mother nature, as well as an opportunity to give back. We are partnering with the Climate Leadership Certification program.
For the both of us, as former students from the College of the Environment, enjoyment in the outdoors and its protection is a priority. We also recognize the privilege of education, and believe it can be a catalyst for long-term, effective change in the mission of combatting climate change.
Our goal of $6,000 is the amount to fully fund a student’s summer study in the Methow Valley, a component in the Climate Leadership Certification program at Western. Pierce had the honor and privilege to be part of the CLC Methow Valley cohort last year, where he was able to build a strong community with fellow students, professors, and community members, excel in his studies, and work on trails. Student work experiences in the Methow rely on donor support as most of the organizations are small nonprofits and cannot afford to hire summer students. While in the Methow, students are supported with housing, a paid internship, field experience, and an irreplaceable community.
We are so thankful for your interest in our fundraiser and generosity to help create this opportunity for future students. As we hike across the country, we will be thinking of you!
Thank you again & happy trails!
