PANSY - On Tour!

Donation protected
PANSY  is an original play by Evan Johnson in collaboration with Ben Randle. PANSY will be presented first in San Francisco, then as part of the Mad River Festival in Humboldt County and finally at the United Solo Festival in NYC. We need your help to get there!

About PANSY
In Evan Johnson's acclaimed solo play, Michael Darling discovers an old box in his basement containing VHS tapes, clothes and old party fliers. As Michael digs through the ephemera, parallels begin to emerge between his life and that of the box’s owner, 90’s gay club kid; Peter Pansy. PANSY builds a bridge between today’s young, queer San Franciscans and the AIDS crisis years.

Pansy is performed by Evan Johnson with direction by Ben Randle, Set Design by Devin Kasper, Costumes and Props by Eli Magid, Soundscape by Teddy Hulsker, Videography by Zack Kasten and Stage Management by Megan Murray

Pansy was developed under the auspices of New Conservatory Theatre Center’s Emerging Artists Program (2010-2013) . The World Premiere of Pansy was on June 14, 2013 followed by a sold-out 3 week run. Pansy returned to NCTC during their festive Pride Season in 2014, for another successful run. In August 2014, Pansy traveled to Portland, OR for a 3 week residency at Post5 Theatre.

Here's Where We Need Your Help!
In 2015, Pansy will be presented in San Francisco (SAFEHouse Arts) on June 26th , in Blue Lake (Dell’Arte International’s Mad River Festival) on July 8th and in New York City (United Solo Festival) on October 14th . We’re also planning more shows for San Francisco audiences! Rehearsals and tour planning are underway and we need a hand!

We’ve got a lot of expenses coming our way, travel, car rentals, set shipping, special lighting, costume repairs, rehearsal space - we’ve got our work cut out for us and the clock is ticking.

We’re passionate about bringing this uniquely San Franciscan slice-of-queer-life story to audiences outside of the city. Please help us make it happen!
