Peyton lives with VACTERL. He has all abnormalities with the exception of "L" limb deformities. Knowing Peyton the last 5 years, you would not catch a glimpse of these issues slowing him down by looking at him. He has successfully overcome an enormous amount of surgeries, procedures, testing, lifestyle modifications, therapies and treatments along with day to day obstacles and challenges. We are extremely blessed to have come this far with the last two years being the most successful. Peyton does an amazing job normally when dealing with a daily evacuation program with mom or dad to keep his body functioning as normally as possible. We work hard as a dedicated family team to be successful in life together.
He has had amazing success and progress the last two years after incorporating multiple lifestyle changes including nutritional/diet modification (Gluten Free, whole foods/plant based), nutritional/supplements (Probiotics, Multivitamins, Phytonutrients, Antioxidants, etc.), Young Living Essential Oil's (Valor, Frankincense, DiGize, StressAway, Helichrysum, Cypress, Highest Potential, Motivation, Peace&Calming, Vetiver, and Lemon to name a few), Vita Flex/Raindrop Therapy and homeopathy support. So much success that his physicians can't explain it and continue to cheer us on. As a team we all wish to avoid synthetic medications (especially since he has been off of them for over 1 year) and additional home treatments (I&O cathing, which we successfully got him off over 1.5yrs ago) because of the potential negative side effects.
Financially, this lifestyle has been extremely challenging. It is not covered by medical insurance and many of our extended family/friends did not understand/support it's successful benefits until recent. This has been incredibly taxing on all levels. Nonetheless, we chose to give up everything possible to make this happen and to give our son and family the highest quality care we could. We also started a family business to help others be successful with lifestyle changes too.
Recently, despite our efforts, we have run into further potential problems as Peyton's bowel, bladder and kidney functions have had acute changes. This puts his solitary kidney at exceptionally high risk! We will be evaluating his spine to rule out a tumor and spinal cord re-tethering as well as several bladder studies under anesthesia Friday. We delayed the studies to be sure his bladder infection was under control and both surgeons were available to combine the medical tests while he was under. With the help of his surgeons, homeopathy practitioner and his supportive family...especially his little sister LiVaya who encourages and keeps him laughing daily, we plan to develop a continued life changing plan for our little superhero!
