Our Amazing Aly’s Aplastic Anemia Battle

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Aly Craft was taken to urgent care for small bumps and bruising all over her body. They were sent from there to the ER where they discovered her white blood cell count and platelets were very very low. From the ER they were transferred to UNC Children's Hospital. After a bone marrow biopsy and additional testing, they discovered she has a rare blood disorder called aplastic anemia, which means that her bone marrow is not creating enough blood cells. Her neutrophils, which are essential in fighting infection, have been at zero. Because of her neutrophil count, low platelets, and low white blood cells, her body does not really have a way to fight off infection.

Aly is currently hospitalized and has been there for nearly 30 days battling numerous infections. Most recently she has been moved to the PICU and has a very serious and potentially life threatening fungal infection in her lung.

Aly has 4 younger siblings so her parents have been driving back and forth from the hospital to the house to spend time with the siblings while also making sure to not leave Aly’s side. The youngest child is only 6 months old and spends most of his days alongside his mother. Parking, lodging, gas and food are the main expenses right now.

This GoFundMe has been setup to help eliminate daily costs that are adding up quickly during this extremely difficult time.

Thank you for your support and prayers!
