I am writing on behalf of my brother Carlos and sister in law Kimberly

They  found out on August 1st that we were expecting after 4 previous losses since 2017, their  first loss was a spontaneous miscarriage and they never knew why that happened. Their  2 losses after their baby girl in 2017 were chemical pregnancies and in July of 2018 they found out they were pregnant again and found it was a boy. At their 12 week scan they found out that their boy had CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia) which means the stomach contents which should be separated by the diaphragm is open and now are in the chest compressing the lungs.  They were devastated and so lost.
They had never heard of CDH before and everyone was in total shock. After testing and lots of hard decisions and due to the severity of of his CDH they made the heartbreaking decision to not continue with that pregnancy and we lost our boy on October 29,2018.  After that they decided to take a break and allow themselves to heal as best they could and just focus on them.  They got married on October 18,2019 and went on their honeymoon in early 2020. They decided that they would start trying again well into 2020 and they were shocked to learn that on August 1,2020. It was such an awesome surprise that Kimberly was pregnant. They felt so positive yet nervous for this pregnancy because of everything we went thru previously. They would never have thought in a million years we would be faced with another baby with CDH especially since with our last we were told that there was a 1% chance it would occur in a following pregnancy.
On December 2,2020 they went to their
20 week anatomy scan and yet again they were faced with the unbelievable. Their boy has severe left sided CDH just like with their  last baby boy.  They were referred to the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and they had their first appointment with them on 1/5/21. After their MRI,Fetal Echo and 2 hour ultrasound they determined it is severe left sided CDH at 22%. They were yet
again devastated and we have all been praying to have received better news but we are right back where they were 2 years ago.

They are faced with all of the hard
decisions, Among all of that they also have the financial burden of not being able to
afford to keep our current home that they are renting and being able to allow
to relocate temporarily to Philadelphia to be close to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where Oliver will be for several
months!!

All funds donated will go to being able to
maintaining our current home and monthly expenses and being to visit Oliver until we are able to bring him home.
